There is a power and force that works when you’re on the lookout…
I discovered this afresh yesterday while taking a quick jaunt through a favorite antiques and collectibles mall. I’ve been on the lookout for a gold wall piece. They are typically vintage and add just that perfect touch of glamour to a wall, are rare and hard to find.
This one on the pink wall was my inspiration, recently featured on Apartment Therapy and The Decorista (two favorite sites.) I also saw one in the Ann Gish showroom in NYC several weeks ago. So I’ve been on the lookout, which simply means FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS.
In life and in decorating, focus is everything. It helps you look past all the clutter and be able to spot a real treasure. So many things clamor for our attention, but when we know what we’re looking for, we greatly enhance the probability of finding it, or rather seeing it.
This helps in dating, creating, and waiting. Lotta decent guys out there, but knowing the essential must-have qualities simplifies the process (notice I said simplifies, not makes easy!) In creating, I decide what my spaces, wardrobe and other endeavors must-have, vs. might-be-nice-to-have. Waiting is easier when I know what I’m waiting for, something great to come vs. something nebulous I can’t even envision.
Which brings me back to my gold piece….what a joyful moment when there on the wall in one of the booths was this gorgeous Italian piece, marked down three times AND tied with a photo of the exact same Ann Gish piece that the owner had evidently seen in a magazine and wanted to use as inspiration for a potential buyer.
When we know what we’re looking for, we draw it to ourselves by focusing and waiting, then obtaining and celebrating. It truly makes life richer and more fun living this way.
So what do you want to focus on today? It can be yours if you stay on the lookout…and do let me know what YOU find.
