Our 3rd son Jordan, 22 yrs old, is one of my heroes. He is a delight and I truly adore him. He was home over Memorial Day weekend with his girlfriend Cady who is also a delight. None of us were expecting the results that came from a routine check-up that Friday morning. All of us stunned, speechless, yet immediately resolved to fight again and win, here is how Jordan describes the situation on his Facebook page, posted last night…
I recently received some disheartening news that my sinus cancer appears to have spread to my lungs. I am currently waiting on test results to find out the details of the situation and to learn more about the treatment plan. This is definitely a speed bump, but by no means a stop sign. In light of this situation, Cady and I have decided to expedite our marriage process in order to fight this together. Thank you for your prayers and support. We know the outcome, and are ready to beat this again.
Cady added on her page….”In light of the situation, we have decided that we want to be married before upcoming treatment. Ready to fight this fight beside my love. Thank you for your prayers and support. We know that God is faithful:) Our trust is fully in Him.”
On the one hand total joy over the fact they are marrying and will fight as a team, on the other hand no one wants to face this enemy again. For many of you who followed Jordan’s first journey nearly two years ago, you know his tenacity and character are truly remarkable. In every area of his life he leads and lives with excellence.
For the last two years I’ve had Psalm 91 posted around our house, with Jordan’s name inserted throughout, reminding us that God never fails, and healing is ours. An excerpt here…
“Because Jordan loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
We have built our lives on the unshakeable Word of God, in Him alone we trust. Thank you for your notes, prayers, and joint faith as we embark on round two of a journey we would not choose, but will not quit.
